Walt Disney Wednesdays: 03. RESORT TIPS!

Here are some over all tips for people staying in resorts. I use most of these and they help a lot!

  • They are promotions and offers that you can take advantage of if you book your next Disney World trip whilst staying at a Disney World Resort .

  • Gift cards are really useful and can be used for near enough anything. Once benefit of the gift card is you can use it to pay for any room charges that you have.

gc

  • My Disney Experience app only allows you to assign one card per party but if you pop to the concierge desk in your resort they can assign a different card per person for you.

  • If you room doesn’t come with a microwave then you can use the one in the food court/quick service area.

  • If you are worried about leaving valuables unattended in your room you can always use the ‘Privacy Please’ signs that Disney supply and nobody will enter your room. (although i don’t advise this on longer trips as housekeeping won’t clean your room an it could end up messy)

  • If you are on a longer stay and want to keep a few valuables safe then pop down to the concierge and most resorts will keep then safe for you.

  • Use the online check-in when staying at Disney Resorts which is an option 60 days before your trip begins. The only time I wouldn’t do this is if I was going to upgrade my room.

  • When you’re staying on-site, you can get a wake-up call from a character. Side note: The characters change all the time.

  • If you are staying for 7+ nights I advice getting the resort mug which is currently priced at $17.99 but it is refillable. It is only refillable in the resorts but you can refill it in any resort not just the one you are staying at.

Walt Disney Wednesdays: 02. WHERE TO STAY?

boardwalk-00-full

Disney’s Boardwalk

Hey Guys! It took a little while but I’m back with part 02 of the Walt Disney Wednesdays and today I want to help you pick the perfect place to stay on Disney property.

So you have chosen what time of year suits you best,  but once again depending on how many of you there are and what time of year the prices of property to stay at can fluctuate rather a lot!

Lets start with the pros and cons of staying on site first.

Ariel's "Part of Your World" at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Art of animation

The biggest benefit of staying on site is that it is convenient. The hotels are all closer to the parks, which in some cases can mean it’s as simple as taking a monorail , bus or boat from the hotel to the park and in some cases you can even walk to the parks!

This allows you to pop back in the middle of your day for a rest and freshen up without feeling guilty that you have missed a chunk of your day. Less time traveling gives you more time in the parks to get things done. It also allows you more sleep at night because there is less traveling in the mornings.

Another aspect of that convenience is transportation. Guest’s don’t actually need a car to get around Disney World, of course you can if you want to and you will need one outside of Disney World, but if you don’t plan on leaving Walt Disney World grounds then you can save the buck and use the transport provided.  You can pick up Disney’s Magical Express from the airport (MCO only) and it will take you to your hotel, and then Disney transportation once on property to get from their hotel to the parks and other locations on property. All of this transportation is complimentary (or built into the price of their room). It’s very reliable too!

If you do decide to hire a car though the parking at the parks will be free for you (normally $20 PER DAY!)

Another perk of staying on site is Extra Magic hours! On different days, certain parks at Walt Disney World open early or stay open late for Walt Disney World resort hotel guests only! It’s a great time to get loads done as the parks are a lot quieter. I highly recommend using the extra magic hours they are just so efficient! You can find the extra magic hours on the My Disney Experience.

The Disney dining plan is a pro on some levels. The Disney dining plan is where you pay in advance for your food. There are different options available for you and you can check those out on My Disney Experience! Right now this isn’t sounding like a pro because you have to pay for it BUT at certain times of the year they offer it to you for FREE!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

My favourite pro of all though is the Disney theming! Disney know how to do a lot of things but their themeing is out of this world incredible. You can stay in a hotel with all of your favourite characters, or why not stay in the Caribbean? If you like animals then you would love Animal Kingdom Lodge where you can look out over the savannah from your balcony! You are immersed in the Disney bubble and it is the most incredible feeling!

Walt Disney Wednesdays: 01. WHEN’S THE BEST TIME TO GO TO WDW?

Hello guys! This is a new series that I am starting where I will give you tips and tricks on planning your WDW trip.

So, you know that you want to go to WDW so now you need to pick what time of year is best for you. The same as most vacations depending on the time of year you go depends on the cost of the trip. You need to keep this in mind when booking.

I always go at the beginning of May because it suits me best. I will explain why its best for me and then I will go through a few more options.

Right, I don’t have any children and there are no small children in my family so we don’t need to worry about going in the school holidays, which is wonderful for us because it can get very busy. I have only been with my entire family once and we stayed off site so in consideration to a family having to book a resort in May I’m not sure how busy of the prices but I’m pretty sure that it will be a big saving compared to the peek months.

Other than the one trip that I went on with my family the party consists of 2.  Me and my Boyfriend or myself and my best friend. So other than price and low crowds why else do we pick May. Well, it is right before hurricane season which usually runs from June through to November. You may still get the odd shower but its never anything too bad and everything drys off in minutes.

Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot! I had never been to Epcot, it had never interested me but going May this year (2016) I was blown away! The topiaries are so beautiful and the whole park is incredibly colourful and perfect for spring. The festival also offers more food a drink options from pop up kiosks in each pavilion where you can try smaller portions of delicious traditional food.

So other times to go are around Valentines where they have a few more princes around the parks. Halloween because Disney know how to do Halloween, you also get to meet the villains at Mickeys not so scary Halloween party (which is an extra ticket)! Finally , Christmas time, the park is magical as it is but with all the Christmas decorations up it is out of this world!

If you can afford to go in the autumn months then i would advise going last week of October and to the first week of November because you get to see the Halloween decorations and the Christmas ones. They also have Food and Wine Festival at Epcot from end of August to mid November.

Regardless of when you pick to go, always look on their website for deals! Disney ALWAYS have great deals on, from free memory maker, free dining plans and 14 days for 7. If you can’t find it on their site try typing in Walt Disney World offers on google or call them on 0800 169 0749 and just ask.

Hope this helps and I will see you next week for which hotel to stay at!

All about Disney ADR’s

If you’re a Disney fan or visit Disney World often then you probably don’t really need to know this. To be honest I learnt all of this from my first trip without adult’s (I was the adult). If you are planning your first trip or just want to know for the plan hell of it then continue reading, and maybe take notes?  So, lets get started!

What is an ADR? ADR stands for Advanced Dining Reservation and at this point you’re probably thinking, ‘well I know how to reserve a table’ but the question is do you know how to book a table at Disney World?

ADR’s are only required for table service, character dining and buffet dining, if its breakfast, lunch or diner. They are NOT require for quick service.

ADR’s are not actually ‘true’ to the reservation times that you select. Yes, you guarantee that you will be seated but it will be at the first table available after you check in at the host point. This can be anything from a couple of minutes up to half an hour, its very rare that it goes past the half hour mark though so don’t worry too much. Disney advise that you arrive about 15 minutes before your reservation time. Don’t try and turn up half an hour before your reservation time to get in dead on your reservation time because it just won’t work.

You don’t always need an ADR but it is highly advised as places get full very quickly and you risk being turned away.

When can you book ADR’s? If you are staying on site you can book all of your ADR’s 180 days in advance of your arrival. SO if you are staying for 14 days you can book all 14 table service reservations 180 days before you arrive. If you are staying off property you can also book 180 days in advance but you will have to do each day at a time.

My advice is to take full advantage of the 180 period because the slots disappear fast! I normally go on the website and have a look at whats about and scroll through the menu’s, then I decided where we will eat and on which day so I know on the 180 days in advance I can get them all done and 99.9% of the time I get everything I want.

Dining ADRs can be made from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m seven days a week

There is no limit on how many reservations you make for one day, well I guess there is because you can only fit a certain amount in a day. You cannot over lap reservations though. Disney allocate you a time slot in which you can’t make another reservation.

I would advise that you do make a plan because it can be annoying when people book 3 reservations for one day and only end up using 1. It stops other people from booking those reservations and it could be a must do on their trip.

How do I book an ADR? You can make reservations by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) or alternatively you can do it the more fun way, the way I do it and that is through the My Disney Experience App. It’s completely free, all you have to do is download the app and make a free account.

Once you have linked your ticked you can go to the reservations section and follow it day by day! This app if fantastic for any Disney Trip I will probably do a post just about My Disney Experience because there is loads to do on it.

You can alter your reservations as much as you like up until the night before assuming that the changes you want to make are still available.

Does this cost any extra? It doesn’t cost anything extra it is all included in your ticket but if you do not turn up for a reservation they will charge you. I think it is $20 a head, I may be wrong on that but I’m pretty sure that is what the cost was.

Oh one last thing! If you don’t get a reservation you wanted do keep checking because someone may cancel one. The best time to look if you didn’t get one on the 180 day mark is the night before you want to go because so many people book 2 or 3 and then cancel the ones they don’t want last minute. So thats a good little tip!

Thanks for reading guys! Feel free to add anything extra that you can think of in the comments below.

Where to eat in Disney World…(interactive)

When you read this post I will have 202 days till my Disney World trip!!! OH MY GOODNESS!

When visiting Disney World one of the more amazing things is the FOOD! The Mickey shaped food, dole whip and CRONUTS! I actually think that cronuts are the best thing I have ever eaten in my life but unfortunately you can’t live off of them (as much as id like to).

img_0883

So we will need to have proper meals and Disney World offers some incredible restaurants. There really is something for everyone, from character dining, to themed restaurants or for something a little more formal they have load of fine dining experiences to choose from.

If you don’t know already Disney do something called ADR (advanced dining reservations), this allows you to book a table up to 180 before you trip and trust me you will need to book! As you can expect Disney restaurants book up very fast.

I have 22 Days till I can book my reservations and I want your help! It is tradition for us to go to Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom for breakfast on our first day but the rest of our trip we are super indecisive on where to go so I want you to head over to my twitter where there will be a poll every 3/4 days for you to pick the restaurant that we should go to.

Follow me on Twitter @eleana_jane to keep up to date with each poll and the results!

First up this week is the vote for our second table service meal of the trip that will be at Disney Springs.

The choices are:

T-Rex
Raglan Road
Wolfgang puck Grand Cafe
Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming

but remember guys you have to vote on twitter or it won’t count!

Another trip to Disney World?

Today I realised most people on my social media know this already but I haven’t told my blog friends, so as I am writing this post I have 223 days till I go back to the most magical place on earth! Yes, thats right! I am going back to Walt Disney World Florida and boy am I excited.

Obviously this is my favourite place to go in the world but this time it will be even more magical because I’m staying on site for the first time guys!

Right, I am going with my Boyfriend, it’s actually our first time away together in 2 years! We go on May 2nd 2017 and we are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort for 14 nights. We both have the dining plan, which by the way is incredible!

When you stay on site you get a magic band included. For anyone that does know what a magic band is, it is a wrist bang with a chip in it that is connected to your tickets. Its has a ticket symbol on it which is where the chip is located. You can use your magic band to get into the parks, for your fast passes, pay for meals with your dining plan, you can also connect your credit card to your magic band to pay for everything in the parks. The come in a range of colours and are water proof.

What I want you to do is head over to my Twitter page by clicking here and vote for what colour magic band I should get. The options are red, yellow, purple, green and grey. I won’t be including pink because I have that one already and I won’t be including orange because thats the colour my boyfriend is having. So go and get voting!

I will be posting more Disney updates, tips and ideas up until my trip. Oh one last thing I made a little video of my last trip photos is now up on my Youtube so click here to see that.
